King Tone's Updated V2 Octaland Octave Fuzz adds colour-changeable LED, and 6 side-mounted Tone-Shaping dip-switches to already formidable format

The King Tone Octaland Upper Octave Fuzz is one that has been on my wishlist for quite some time - it’s a fairly pricey proposition at $299 - which is somewhat more justified by its recent additions - where the price has held the same level.

The 4 controls and 3-way Mode switch are the same as before - the circuit has been very marginally refined, while the two new additions make it a really appealing proposition.

First is the colour-changeable LED - where you hold down the footswitch to enter LED colour select mode - then you can scroll through different RGB combinations (multiple footswitch presses) - I think around 10 or 12 different colour options - when you find the one you like - you hold down the footswitch again - and that becomes your default LED colour- ingenious!

Controls - Drive, Volume, Blend : Clean > Blend > Heavy > Octave, Voice : Cream > Warmth > Enhance > Heavy, Mode : Full Fat / Glass / Vintage, Side Dip-switches : High Gain / Vintage (def), Overdrive / Clean (def) / Warm / Bright (def), Fat Synth / Classic (def), Dynamic (def) / SAG, Moment / Toggle (def).

Next is the now 6 side-mounted Tone-Shaping dip-switches - which I’ve already covered off in the above Controls overview. In effect 5 x 2-way Tone and Character switches and one Momentary / Toggle (Latching) footswitch option.

The Blend and Voice knobs in particular have pretty extensive ranges for adopting the character and nature of the output in various directions.

As this is an Octave Fuzz Pedal - part of my would of course love to see and Octave On/Off second footswitch for even more versatility - while plenty will argue that the pedal kind of does enough as is.

As mentioned I think $299 is still relatively high - but all-round with what this delivers - this is just about as sufficiently different and distinct a pedal to command such a premium. I definitely want one even more now - and will be making plans to acquire it.

I’m also aiming to get the new 2-in-1 miniFUZZ which Jesse has been teasing on social media. I would look to get that in its Silver colorway - to match my Duellist. And I would hope that this Octaland would be delivered too some day in Silver edition - so I can complete said trifecta!

How about you - are any of you getting in line for this pedal?
