Danelectro owner Steve Ridinger was quite the Fuzz pioneer back in the 60’s - where two of the fuzzes featured here were his own original designs - the Liverpool Fuzz-Tone from back in 1966 (his very first pedal design), and and then the Foxx Tone Machine in 1972.
Danelectro released its first relic’d Vintage Style Fuzz - the Eisenhower back in 2019, then came the sort of Foxx Tone Machine reissue in similar compact enclosure - and now we have the earliest origin pedal in that trilogy - the 3-transistor Nichols 1966, based on Steve’s very first pedal design.
I of course snapped up the Eisenhower and 3699 when they were first released, and there is no question that I will be getting in this Nichols 1966 Liverpool Fuzz-Tone variant - as soon as it becomes available in the UK.
The Eisenhower and 3699 seem to be going for around £159 in the UK, while MAP price still seems to be at $199 - which is the starting price for the Nichols 1966 too. Sweetwater has two of these Fuzzes priced at $199, while it has the Eisenhower at $149!
I’m looking forward to getting my hands on the Nichols 1966 in a week or two hopefully - and will feed back further then - and decree which of these 3 I like the best!
Here follow the further details :

A great take on the 1968 Univox Super Fuzz.

Superb update on Steve's 1972 Foxx Tone Machine - much more compact - and smarter too - particularly with that separate Octave Footswitch.
Controls - Fuzz, Drive, Tone, Volume, Voicing : Stock / Mid Cut.
And finally a clever take on the earliest of the source pedals - here being 1966's 3-Transistor Liverpool Fuzz-Tone.
