Fredric Effects' Standard Fuzz Machine is a totally killer Harmonic Octave Fuzz - beautifully calibrated for maximum impact

I do like my Ocave Fuzzes - and this one - kind of based on the Ibanez Standard Fuzz - which is somewhat adjacent to the Univox Superfuzz - This Fredric Fuzz sounds blistering - in the best sense - for that perfectly balanced cutting upper ocatave - beautifully supported by a warm and well balanced core sound - derived from 5 silicon transistors.

Controls - Fuzz Depth (Intensity), Balance (Volume), Ocave Off/On Switch, Tone Change Footswitch : Flat / ’Garagey’ (Red) / Scooped (Green), Fuzz On Footswitch.

It’s really easy to dial in for my preferences - where I always go for maximum richness of harmonic content, which for me happens with Fuzz Depth just a little before 3 o’clock, and Balance a little after 3 o’clock, of course with the Octave switch on (Down), and the Tone Change on Green Scooped LED - that sounds totally amazing for me - for one of the best balanced octave sounds out there!

It sounds so much better on Scooped and with the Octaven engaged - without those elements it’s a little weak sauce - although you can dial in the Red Garagey Flat mode better - but it needs a lot more gain and volume to come the slightest bit closer to the Scooped voicing.

So left LED for me stays Green, where I can go slightly more subtle by defeating the Octave - and then bring it back in a gain for full impact.

Beautifully calibrated Fuzz - it has a degree of inherent warmth to it which a lot of the super fuzzes don’t deliver - at least not to that quality. Tim has mathed those transistors and biased them exceptional well - this is surely one of the best sounding Octave fuzzes out there! And it looks really attractive to in that custom enclosure.

I’ve always said that Tim’s Fredric Effects delivers some of the very best value pedals out there. A little like Mike Vickery usded to do with Vick Audio. Those two brands obviously suit my highly value-centric Scandinavian sensibilities!

The Standard Fuzz Machine is avarailable for just £150 currently on the Fredric Effects Webstore, and at leading International Dealers - it’s everyway a bargain. If you like Octave Fuzzes in the slightest - then this one should hit it out of the park for you!

For me this is one of those instant satisfaction fuzzes - really easy to dial in, and with plenty of range on both dials. Highly recommended!

There isn’t much in the ways of demos yet for this pedals - as it’s still fairly new - I will add in more demos as they materialise - there’s just one comparative one out there currently - as below!
