I’ve actually been meaning to post this one up for a while - as Tru-Fi’s Teddy Rasch makes some really cool looking and great sounding stompboxes - and he’s definitely hit a home run with his new Ghost Vibe Uni-Vibe.
You may have witnessed my questioning numerous times on this blog as to why so many of those Uni-Vibe pedals need to be so mahoosive! Surely contemporary pedalboard best practice dictates what we should be seeking out the most ideal and ergonomic of form factors - something fairly compact and eminently pedalboard-friendly - and that is just what this Ghost Vibe is. Best consumed in a Purple Sparkle enclosure I would imagine!
Controls - Volume, Mode : Vibrato / Chorus, Depth, Speed.
There are no additional features here - like say you would find on the DryBell Vibe Machine - while the Ghost Vibe has all the flavour and nuance you will ever need from a Uni-Vibe. My friend Alberto Barrero does a fantastic job on his below demo in illuminating just how good this pedal can sound.
And my good friend Joe Light is expecting a handful of these to land at his Joe’s Pedals Boutique - along with a Tru-Fi proper range re-stock - in the not too distant future - I would imagine those will all be snapped up very quickly - and I’m hoping to get a Purple Sparkle edition from that batch - fingers crossed!
I saw that 100 of these Ghost Vibes have now been made - which means it’s still got a way to go to catch up with all-time Tru-Fi bestseller - the Two Face Fuzz.
I personally really don’t see the point in getting one of those oversized Uni-Vibes - when this Tru-Fi Ghost Vibe sounds every bit as good - looks better, and is so much easier to accommodate.
If you’re based in the Americas - then the best way to get your hands on one of these is via the Tru-Fi Pedals Webstore (also on Reverb.com) - where these Ghost Vibes retail for $299 - and you pay an additional $25 for a custom sparkle paintjob (like the purple sparkle one I so like). I actually really like just the Standard Purple one too - that looks incredibly sharp - as per the accompanying visual here!
It looks like Teddy is definitely onto another winner!
Which is you own favourite Uni-Vibe?
