The second phase of the Reeves Electro DaughterBoard Series sees 4 cool takes on the 2-Transistor Fuzzes which evolved in 1966. We’ve already had a taste with the more modern-leaning and mid-forward Facet IZ Fuzz Face, where we also have takes on the Tone Bender MK 1.5, Vox Tone Bender, and original Arbiter Fuzz Face Distortion. You then get an opportunity to order the Facet IZ again at the end of the month (28th Feb) - and indeed you can order the whole set of 4 then if you wish!
Each of the Facet varieties comes with its own pair of rare NOS Vintage Silicon Transistors - for the first Facet IZ release those are ME C1016Y’s, for today’s Facet 1.5 they are SES 2N22926, then TI BC183’s for the Facet FF, and silver-faced Philips BC536B’s for the Facet VX. Each is priced at £259, and as per all DaughterBoard series pedals every one of these is fully prepped and hand-manufactured by Izzy Reeves.
The Facet IZ comes with a 3rd Tone control, while the other 3 have a ’Trim’ input resistance control instead - those are fully out of the circuit when all the way CW, while if you dial those back you get a gradual taming of the output - i.e. less saturation.
You get a 24 hour cycle to order each pedal on the specific day of release - meaning the order book opens at 00:01 GMT right at the start of the day - and closes at 23:59 - or just before midnight on that same day.
Each is ordered from the Reeves Electro Webstore - where I will aim to have an article up each day at one minute to midnight the day before!
So if you want a Facet 1.5 - start your engine now!
Of the quartet, the one I'm most looking forward to capturing for myself is the Facet IZ at the end of the month. If you have a fat wallet - then each of these are worth getting - I dare say there will be quite a few going for the full set at the end of the month! I have to spread the love a little more widely each month though - and cannot afford to put quite so many eggs into the one basket. But had I the means then surely I would! So in short - I need to pick those off one-by-one!
Here follows a brief overview video which highlights the differences between each circuit - where the individual demos for the Facet 1.5 are to be found at the base of this article.
Order cycle from 00:01 to 23:59 GMT on the day of release - you can order one at any time within that period. And of course a set of all 4 on the 28th.
