So we now have a limited edition of the Unobtanium Klon + Dumble Dual Channel Overdrive in a different ’Raw’ Colourway, but more importantly with changes made to each of the 2 Channels!
On the Klon side we get a different ’Mod’ option on the Clipping / Compression switch. Were CTC’s Christos found that the NOS Mullard/Valvo OC45 germanium transistor paired exceptionally well with that circuit and generated even greater depths of breakup character.
While on the Dumble side that Chanel now renders glassier and punchier than before - which is described as sounding like the the Rock/Jazz toggle-switch is permanently set to a slightly beefier and punchier output.
In some ways you can say that the RAW Colourway is the added-flavour edition - taking you to new heights of richly textured breakup tones.
The control topology and all else remains as before as you can see from the original launch edition :
Original Edition Above!
Controls - KLON } Volume, Gain, Bypass : Buffered / True, Active Treble, Clipping / Compression : Stock / OC45 Transistor Mod, Klon Channel Footswitch; DUMBLE } Volume, Voicing : Overdrive Special / Steel String Singer, Gain, Tone, Emphasis, Dumble Channel Footswitch.
And apart from the highly visible enclosure Colourway difference, the only other physically noticeable difference is that the Stock / Mod toggle-switch now has the legends 'Stock / OC45'.
There's no reveal on the total numbers available - much like with the Rare Transistor CTC Constellation Editions - we will only be notified when those special components run out!
I'm sorely tempted by this version, while my dance-card as such has already been filled for the month. Hopefully there will be some remaining in stock at the start of next month!
The 'Raw' OC45 Edition of Unobtanium is available right now on the Crazy Tube Ciruits Webstore - where it goes for a little more than the original - so €339 / $349 for the Raw Edition, and €289 / $269 for the Original sort of Sand-coloured edition - as pictured above.
