I’ve waxed lyrical for a long time about the potency of the Daily Driver - where I originally acquired it based on how close it came to the tone and timbre of the Pete Cornish CC-1. The CC-1 can replicate / reproduce the tones of the TS808, Timmy, Klon and Blues Breaker with ease - and this new Boost addition makes it even more versatile.
The original had those 4 key corner knobs - and a single toggle switch for More Hi-Cut / None / Some Hi-Cut. Those 5 controls gave the pedal an incredible range - and so well calibrated is this circuit that you really can replicate most of those classic overdrives with ease.
This new Daily Driver Boos edition incorporates the relatively recent Shnobel Tone Clean Boost pedal into the midst of the Daily Driver. Where you now have an additional dedicated footswitch for the Boost, alongside a central ’Level’ control and Boost > Driver / Drive > Boost Order toggle.
There is something quite distinct about the core tone and timbre of this pedal which allows it to be so adaptable - Roman and his engineers did such a great job on the original - and for just an additional $40 dollars you get the very significant benefits of separate independent boost channel!
Controls - Volume, Boost/Drive Order, Gain, Level (Boost : +27dB), Low, Hi-Cut : More / None / Some, High, Boost Footswitch, Drive Footswitch.
I’m definitely down for one of these and the price is a steel really - considering the Boost pedal on its own is priced at $149. Already available on the Shnobel Tone Webstore for $319. As always - I have a lot of priorities to juggle this year - but this will definitely enter their collection at some stage. Note that while preorders are active - pedals are not due to be delivered until Mars!
Are any of you fans of the original? And are you considering an upgrade.
For those of you who have yet to experience the delight of this super versatile overdrive - now I guess is a good time to get involved!
