David Greeves has always had a great touch with fuzz pedals, and his new one is no exception. What we have here is the most exquisitely textured fuzzy-drive / fuzz preamp unit - with a fantastic palette of sounds in a really neat and simple package.
One of the things that makes this really special is that this OC201 Preamp / Fuzz has the earliest Mullard Silicon Transistor onboard - the OC201 variety - which looks unerringly close to a Germanium variety, but is in fact rather Mullard’s very first take on the Silicon Transistor - so these are obviously rare NOS vintage components - and hence the Obsolete Devices Series!
For that reason there is only a limited quantity of those parts available - and so this run is limited to just 50 units!
Controls - Fuzz, Level.
Normally I would have negotiated and snapped up one of these already, but it’s my father’s 90th Birthday this month - so I obviously have different spending priorities. It really hurts to miss out on this fine sounding Preamp / Fuzz - indeed it’s exactly the kind of sonic profile I normally go for.
You can see the simplicity and elegance of this circuit in the above visual - made for maximum mojo impact - where when the circuit is this simple and elegant - it’s all about the quality of its raw components - sort of the equivalent to Italian cuisine!
If you want one - you need to get your skates on direct to the Great Eastern FX Webstore, Andertons in the UK, Pedaltown and Palf on the continent / EU, Sound Shoppe in the USA, or Electric Mojo in Canada. You’re going to have to be very quick to snag one of these!
If you know David - you shouldn’t really need to sample the demos - but there are 3 fine demos out in any case - if you need more collateral to make a decisions - while if you stop to listen to the demo first - you’ve probably already missed out!
