Vitalii always goes his own way, and adds some smart and unique aspects to each of this Pedal Drops. So you can bet that his Klon / Klone take will be a very unique variant indeed! You will note that there is one control more here than on a typical Klone - as Vitalii has split out the Dry and Wet / Gain levels.
He has furthermore extended the EQ range - to bolster the low end of the frequency curve - in I suppose not too dissimilar way to the Wampler Tumnus. And he has then selected some very primo unusual components which deliver more fidelity, higher headroom, and lower noise floor.
These include a TLC2272 rail-to-rail opamp, changes in filter and mixing values, an LM833 for the EQ/Mixer, and a super efficient LT1054 charge pump IC. The last mentioned handles more current, has higher switching frequency - more stable and less noise/problems.
The cherry on top is then large size Germanium D2 Diodes - which can be seen theough the two viewing ports / slits in the pedal.
Over-sized D2 Germanium Clipping Diodes
Controls - Loud (Output), Timbre (Tone / Treble), Purr (Dry Level), Roar (Wet Level / Gain).
Only 25 of these have been made - at the usual break-neck-speed of rapid prototyping - so as is mostly usual for these Pedal Drops - there wasn’t enough time to do a demo! You should all be very familiar with how a Klon / Klone sounds though - and just imagine this one as having a little more range extension in all directions - with overall slightly more fidelity of output.
I’m sure there are many of us who love a candy apple red sparkle enclosure - all-in-all a very attractive proposition. These go for $175 plus shipping and taxes - a very fair price - of course courtesy of the Drunk Beaver Rocks Webstore. I’m quite the fan of the Klon/e format - and I’m always intrigued to hear how Vitaliis mods essentially turn out. Really looking forward to getting my Hands on mine. I feel these are going to be particularly popular - so you really need to get your skates on when you see this post - as these will go very quickly I would imagine!
