We get 2 new MonoNeon Signature Colourway Iterations of the V5 Whammy - the pictured Yellow and Orange version, and a Green and Red variant too - both very attractive, while the Whammy has always been a little over-sized for me and my needs, and where I’ve always preferred to use the somewhat more compact and simpler Whammy Ricochet.
While DigiTech has another ace up its sleeve - with the brand new HammerOn - which takes the Whammy Ricochet format further towards the fuller Whammy feature set, and adds a second Pitch shifter - with all manner of smart modes including Trill function, and 2-5 note automated sequences. You can transition pitches between Pitch 1 and Pitch 2, as well as use the 2 sides independently - and then add the Dry+ for Harmonizing effects.
I already love the Whammy Ricochet, and I see the HammerOn as a vast extension and upgrade of that. I of course have smart pitch-shifting on my Keeley Octa-Psi too - but so many of the features on that are complex and hidden away as secondary or tertiary functions even. The HammerOn is a better format for me for that task, with better visual cues, and more surfaced controls - but not without some degree of complexity.
As of writing this - no Demo has materialised yet, nor was this pedal listed yet at any UK dealers when I last checked - while the new MonoNeon Whammy is everywhere! I will of course update when further details emerge!
As mentioned in the intro - I see the HamerOn as being an evolution of the Ricochet - brining that format closer to the original Whammy, but adding a tonne of new features and functions into the mix too!

Colourful and Dynamic Bassist Dywane Eric Thomas Jr. AKA MonoNeon - gets his own brightly coloured editions of the Whammy V - which MonoNeon editions come in either the Yellow and Orange colourway pictured, or an equally vibrant Green and Red.
I've always liked the idea of the Whammy - but it's really too big for me - there needs to be a more compact edition of the treadle version really to suit my needs!

As I consider the Whammy somewhat oversized - the derived Whammy Ricochet and HammerOn pedals are a much better fit for me, where I'm looking forward to getting stuck into the HamerOn fairly soon!
Aesthetically I love the look of these new editions, and while pedal will forever be associated with Tom Morello for me - where the Ricochet and HamerOn easily provide that functionality in a more practical format. A lot of my friends still love the big Whanny - and these new iterations are highly appealing!
