In the same format and enclosure of the fairly recent Silvetone 1484 Twin Twelve Preamp with the same distinctive knobs, we have another analog Twin style pedal - this time a modulator, with independent footswitches for each channel.
I really like how the Mini Volume Knobs light up to show each channel that is on - a really elegant execution - that I look forward to seeing more of!
Controls - OPTICAL } Speed, Depth, Volume, Footswitch; HARMONIC } Speed, Depth, Volume, Footswitch.
Ports - In & Out for each channel / tremolo circuit
The concept is simplicity itself - simply an Optical Tremolo on the Left, and Harmonic Tremolo on the Right - which you can deploy independently or together. For this particular execution that brushed aluminium chassis looks particularly fine.
There’s definitely much to like here, while I would have much preferred this in the same format as the recent New Wave, or at the very least in vertical orientation. I guess the 4 ports here were partly responsible for giving us this horizontal / landscape format - which is very elegant as mentioned - but it’s still quite a lot of real-estate to give away to a tremolo.
Of course I never say never, but I’m not sure I will ever own one of these - I am still a little tempted though - as it looks as good as it sounds - and it’s most definitely a really smart combination. I just wish it would have been a little more compact!
The pricing is about right here at $299 / €349 / £299 on the Jackson Audio Webstore, while I would have felt it better justified at say $249 or $279 even - in terms of pricing conjoint analysis. Still - props to Jackson Audio - this is a refined design that should do well for them! I feel the dual footswitches and the independent ports justify the format more for this Twin Trem, than for the previous Twin Twelve! This pedal should be imminently available at international dealers too.
