So this seems to be becoming a regular pattern for EHX - where another of its legendary pedals is celebrated in a limited 600 run Golden Edition - which of course comes in a wooden box.
I don’t mind these collector’s editions - but this will inevitably become shelf-ware, which is a shame for an instrument devices. Pedals same as guitars are for playing - not for hanging on your walls or stacking on shelves.
You have just the 2 controls as always - Color and Rate, there’s no doubt it’s an attractive package, albeit somewhat impractical, and $300 is a lot to pay for a paper-weight! I just feel that most of these will be snapped up by chancers and scalpers, and trophy hunters and spend near enough all there live up on a shelf.
You obviously have options here - there is a plethora of very fine phasers out there - including my own current favourite - Beetronics’ Larva!
Of course it’s your money and your choice - but if you do end up buying one of these - do make sure you actually play it!
You can read up more on the Golden Small Stone on the EHX Website.
There doesn’t seem to be any official video reference to this launch - and so I’ve referenced a great Leon Todd demo of the original!
