EHX originally released its Satisfaction Maestro FZ-1 Fuzz Tone take back in 2014 I believe. I acquire me own copy of that a few years later - in the guise of the JHS Pedals Modified version of that. JHS used to do a number of EHX Modded pedals - and I own several of those - including all the Modded Big Muffs that Josh Scott did. Once JHS reached a new level of popularity - those modifications were discontinued, so I’ve switched over to Alchemy Audio for those types of editions nowadays.
The pictured JHS Modded Satisfaction had 2 extra controls - a 3-way EQ switch on the left - where you can augment Mids or Bass, and a variable Saturation control on the right. It significantly expanded the range of the original pedal.
Controls - Volume, Fat / Normal Switch, Attack, Tone, Bias.
And so we now have a new ’Plus’ edition - brilliantly priced at $99 - alongside the recent Lizard Queen Octave Fuzz. Both of those are most definitely entering the reference collection - and most likely very soon!
The added Fat Switch, Tone and Bias controls empower you to get a lot more out of this fuzz - making it much more usable and versatile.
We all know the story of how Gary Hurst re-engineered the Fuzz Tone into the Tone Bender - to tackle issues with diminished sustain and choked output. The original Fuzz Tone had some significant limitations - which these additional controls allow you to overcome and ameliorate.
The new Satisfaction Plus Fuzz is a great buy at $99 and should be at International dealers soon enough.
I can definitely see a Satisfaction and Lizard Queen coming my way before too long.
