Obviously the Mac Daddy of Fuzz-Phazers is Roland’s legendary Jet Phaser, which was replicated to great effect recently by Warm Audio, while there are a few Jet Phaser inspired pedals out their - both by circuit and combination - like say the Fuzzrocious Electric Ocean.
I have and love the Electric Ocean - while that is a touch large to be fully practical - The Phoezar takes that same sort of concept - Fuzz + Phaser and fits it inside a neat dual footswitch compact enclosure.
Controls - FUZZ } Fuzz (Gain), Volume, Phaser <> Fuzz Order, PHASER } Rate, Depth.
Part of it is of course combining a simple fuzz with a simple phaser. So we get a Bazz style fuzz on the left channel - which most typically consists of a single 2N5088 Transistor with 1N914 clipping diode. And that is then matched by an MXR Phase 45 style phaser on the right channel - so not really the same topology as the Jet Phaser - but conceptually very similar.
I really do like my Electric Ocean - but it’s too large for frequent use - The Phoezar really is perfectly packaged - and priced right at $149 - available for order from the Spun Loud Effects Webstore. And while there are only 2 demos out thus far - they both sound fantastic. Fuzz and Phaser are so great to mix together and you can really accentuate the impact of each by which order you place them in. I would imagine that this would be a pedal in pretty high rotation - and of course both channels are fully undefended too.
It definitely goes down on my wishlist, but I’ve not assigned a priority yet as March is pretty hectic already and I need to allow the dust to settle a little - but I will certainly look to get this Phoezar Fuzz-Phaser in over the next month or two.
