This is my second PastFX Phaser after the equally brilliant Foot Phaser Deluxe, while this Rotary Phaser delivers stereo output along with some different playback options. You also get 4 different Phase Stage options / Modes to switch between.
PH-350 Controls - Speed, Depth, Stages : 4 | 6 | 10, Feedback.
PastFX Controls - Speed, Waveform : Square / Triangle, Depth, Feedback (Negative / Positive), Mode (Stages) : 4 | 6 | 8 | 10.
Operation is very simple here with only 5 controls - you essentially select Mode first, then Waveform, and set Speed, Depth and Feedback to taste. Obviously more Feedback makes for a chewier texture, and more depth give you more intense phasing. Remember that Feedback increases in either direction CCW is Negative and CW is positive.
This is a fantastic really wide ranging phaser - where few analog varieties have this many Phase Stage options - from classic Phase 90 up through more specialist and deeper flavours.
The PastFX Foot Phaser Deluxe sounds equally spectacular and if anything can be a little more distinct even. I probably love that and the Rotary Phaser about equally overall on balance. Where the distinct texture of the Foot Phaser counts in its favour, as does its Manual mode, while the Stereo Output and multiple Stage Options help elevate this Rotary Phaser. Also - only the Stereo Rotary Phaser can create properly decent Leslie Rotary Speaker tones with its stereo output.
A great preset for those classic Rotary Speaker tones is Speed fully CW, Triangle Waveform, Depth at noon, Feedback at noon, 10 Stage Mode.
Note that Output B is for mono use, where the dry and modulated signals are combined. Output A will always produce a dry signal. By selecting the internal Stereo slide switch, the dry signal will be cut from the Output B jack. This will result in the Dry signal only exiting from Output A, and the Wet only modulated signal exiting from Output B.
Available right now from PastFX’s Reverb.com Store for $299 AUD / $211 USD
I of course have over 20 phasers in the reference collection - and each one of those is really special - as is this rather unique Rotary Phaser - well worth checking out!
