Old Blood Noise Endeavors are ever innovative in their effects development - always adventuring where others fear to tread, and they’ve come up with a really cool new variant of fuzz here.
The main Fuzzz has 6 controls essentially - with the Fuzz Type, Filter, and Intensity varying the character and voicing of the fuzz enormously. We’ve seen this take on ’Filter’ before - which combines Input Gain with Low End frequency enhancement. While the ’Intensity’ control seems to be fairly unique here in how it impacts.
And then you have the Lasso ’Overdriven Insert Loop’ where you can operate it as just a normal FX / Insert Loop - but here you have the ability to ramp up the Gain and Volume of that loop - to give it more saturation - and you can feed it into or out of the fuzz, or combine it in parallel.
For sure an intriguing mix of effects - while I can’t get a clear picture on the size of the enclosure - which I worry may be a little over-sized - while it doesn’t look a million miles from those Strymon square-shaped medium offerings. I’ve been caught out several times on enclosure sizes, and as always exercise some caution in me approach here.
Controls - FUZZ } Bass, Treble, Fuzz Volume, Filter (Low-End and Main Input Gain), Intensity (Increases Sizzle / Warble & Yodelly Quality!), Fuzz Type : Synthy / Fuzzy, Fuzz Footswitch: LASSO INSERT LOOP } Lasso Volume, Lasso Gain, Lasso First / Parallel / Fuzz First, Lasso Footswitch.
I really like the look of this, and it’s reasonably priced at $229, I don’t tend to use Insert Loops a lot - so still need to rationalise that.
It comes in 3 colourways, with the standard version in the Tan, and then a Blue and Purple Flanker. The visual could be from a Moebius and Jodorowksy collaboration - that element certainly looks really cool, and therefore the sandy Tan version the most authentic to that scenario.
The Pardner Fuzz + Insert Loop is available right now from the OBNE Webstore and at leading international dealers - where it goes for $229 / £229
