I tried to get all the key functions and features into the single visual above - and feel I may have over-egged it a touch - while there is certainly a lot of ground to cover!

What we have here is a +24dB Twin Clean Boost - which via TRS Cables can be separated out to two different pedals or amps, Pre and Post Boost or a sort of FX Loop Insert. Note that if you go Mono In - you can only get Mono Out (TS Cables), for the more Complex Split / Separate Boosts you need to use TRS Cables - typically those Y-Split ones so you can send each of the twin boosts to different destinations.

In terms of normal operation - you can simply just deploy manually - adjusting the +dB Gain with the White Knob. You can deploy 3 Presets (I-III) which light up the Red LEDs under the white knob. Deploying a long Press on the F2 push-button allows you to toggle between Preset Mode and Gain Step Mode.

When in Preset Mode it’s simply a matter of selecting and saving I-III presets - which you move along with the Left Footswitch (short press), and save with a long press!

If you’re in Blue Gain Step Mode you can step up the gain in increments - so say in steps of +2dB - where a short press Raises the dB value by 2 units until the maximum of 24 is reached, or a long press drops the dB level by 2dB in the other direction. Furthermore you can apply a transition time to the interval - which is here called ’Slew Rate’. So each increment in dB Gain happens over a set degree of milliseconds - where the Rate is determined on a 0-99 scale.

The Core Analog Twin Boosts are about as Clean / Transparent / Non-Colouring as you can get. While as you can deploy them in both Pre and Post Gain placements - you can separately impact Gain or just Volume.

There’s also Midi Control over the key functions - and a learning curve in figuring out how you control everything mostly via just the F1 and F2 push-buttons and Left and Right Footswitches. Each of those Buttons and Switches has multiple functions - depending on Mode selected, context, and combination presses - like Bypass Footswitch + F1 = Toggle between Join and Separate Boosts - i.e. send out same or separate boost values to each TRS Output Channel.

Controls : F2 Push Button } Long Press toggles bettered Preset and Gain Modes; In Preset Mode - short press toggles between total II or III Presets; For Gain Step Mode - short press lets you select dB Gain Increments / Intervals of 1-24, F1 Push Button } Preset long press sets MIDI Channel 0-16; Gain Step short press sets Slew / Transition Rate of 0-99; Gain Step long press Saves Slew Rate; F1 + Bypass toggles between Joint and Separate Boosts; when Separate boosts are selected - F1 then toggles between Blue (Ring Channel) or Red (Tip Channel), Left Footswitch } Preset short press selects Preset; long press Saves Preset; Gain Step short press Ups Increments / Gain Factor; long press decreases them by same interval, Right Footswitch } Bypassed Both Channels; when pressed in tandem with F1 toggles between Joint and Separate Boosts.

So in short you have here two of the Cleanest Boosts out there - which you can user jointly or independently, and in a variety of Presets of Gain Step-up Modes - timed or static. This is totally 2 Clean Boosts in one - which via clever use of TRS Cables / TRS Y-Splitter Cables - you can send each of the 2 Separate Boosts to different parts of your Rig or Signal Chain - and even deploy a sort of 4 Cable Method FX Loop in effect.

The Presets give you 3 values - and however you divide the +24 Decibels - you can have single digit or twin digits increments for even more Gain Step granularity. I believe the Presets can be set across Left and Right Channel Boosts when using TRS Separate Boost Modes - so in theory you can have 3 x 2 different Boost Settings on board in that sense.

Just a really smart, versatile, well engineered and thoroughly well thought out pedal. But one that you need to get your head around first as this is a genuine innovation - and first of its kind. I’m sure more will follow using similar methodology!

The Twin Boost is available for orders right now from the OPFXS Web Store - for €150 and equivalent - a great price for such an innovative device! Would be cool to have the next iteration with 2 different boost voicings - so one can be clean, and the other dirty / harmonic / germanium or otherwise - for even more granularity and versatility!
