KMA Machines Improves and Doubles Down on its Queequeg Sub Generator - now with Dual Sub Octaves

KMA introduced its original Queequeg Sub Generator back in 2016  - where its high precision tracking circuit simply allowed you to mix in a single Sub Octave. The whole point of that relatively simple one function pedal was that the tracking and reproduction would be of the highest order - to fully justify such simplicity - where most Octave style pedals offer at least a 2-3 octave range - but typically with lower fidelity.

Now for 2022 we get a slightly larger enclosure with further enhanced tracking circuit - and with the added advantage of top-mounted jacks. And in place of the original single One Octave Down output, you now get a 3-way switch which allows you to select 2 Octaves Down / A combination of One and Two Octaves Down / and the One Octave Down of the original.

Obviously this is intended for Bass and Bassline players - so if you want to get your ’Royal Blood’ on as such - then this is the perfect way to do that from Guitar to Bass - while of course Mike Kerr does it the other way around - using octave up and separate output pedal to generate guitar-like tones from his 4 and 5 string bass guitars.

I’m still a little surprised no one has done a full Royal Blood pedal by now that has dual outputs to split signal between Guitar and Bass outputs - and feed each of those different Octave outputs separately - depending on input instrument! (I would assume you would need 2 Octaves up as well as 2 Octaves down to accomplish that!)

I am just one such player that uses Octaves to generate killer basslines - so this pedal is right down my street. I also love the new artwork and colourway - surely the best pedal graphics for the year to-date while, while of course being a really smart visual metaphor too.

There’s really not much more to say here - you simply select One or Two Octaves down, and then Mix in your Dry signal until you achieve the perfect bassline output. Most Bass players deploy Sub-Octavers of one kind or another - and I would imagine this would be a particularly big hit with them.

Pricing is very good value at €149 | $169 | £129 and these are available directly from the KMA Machines Webstore, and coming very soon to leading dealers.

I will certainly be snapping up one soon enough - how about you - do you deploy Sub-Octavers in your own rig?
