The formerly BB-sized Wurm High Gain Distortion has long been a favourite of that Boss HM-2 Genre - with its long-standing extended controls and 3-way internal Voicing selector. So for 2022 and in the wake of the immense Guardian of the Wurm pedal, Enrico has managed to fit all that HM-2 magic into a compact enclosure with top-mounted jacks. Moreover the formerly internal twin voicing dip-switches have been externalised via much more elegant single 3-way toggle switch.
The output is still just as visceral and full-flavoured as ever - while the pedal is now far more practical than before and much easier to slot into you pedalboard.
Controls - Volume, Voicing : HM-2, Both, KMA, Terror (Gain), Highs, Hi-Mids, Low-Mids, Lows. Internal Frequency Trimmers for : Lows, Low Mids, High Mids, and Highs.
You also still have those 4 frequency internal trimmers to adjust the key frequency cluster of each frequency control. This is all-round a very significant improvement on its predecessor. It’s also nice to see that the pedal picks up on the more iconic Black and Orange colourway originally seen on the Limited Edition WurHM which was out a couple of years ago.
The KMA Machines Wurm delivers quite a bit more granularity than the admittedly exceptional recent Boss HM-2W - I feel they are both essential for anyone serious about the HM-2 genre.
The Wurm 2 is available right now on the KMA Machines Webstore and at leading dealers for $199 | €199 | £169.
This pedal’s expanded granularity lends itself to all kind of purposes well beyond the HM-2 genre. If can of course deliver that Twin Peak Chainsaw Distortion with ease - while you can infinitely adjust all those key parameters for completely different output profiles - right across the gain range. In short this is simply a more practical and adaptable HM-2 style distortion which has capabilites well beyond the majority of its peers.
Anyone else here own, or about to own all 3 enclosure variations of Wurm?
