It is with much sadness that we bid a fond farewell to Tom and his faithful companion Cooper - who have now retired from the Cooper FX brand as such. Tom’s protégé Dan will continue to make his new Expression Generator and Signal Path Selector utility pedals as long as there remains a demand for those.
The Cooper FX Generation Loss, Arcades and Outward though have all ceased production. While there is still some hope that the final Arcades Modular Card - based on the DigiTech Space Station - might still some day see the light of day.
This particular journey - which started back in 2015 is now over though - and what a brilliant legacy to leave as the Timeline aptly showcases :
TIMELINE
Tom’s lasting legacy is largely based on his superb flagship Generation Loss and Outward pedals, while I first got properly involved with Tom for his Arcades Modular FX Pedal. It took me quite a while to convince Tom that I was a worthy collaboration partner, while I feel we’re pretty solid friends now - and I’m really looking forward to witnessing what he does next.
When Tom’s move is finally announced / confirmed people will nod their heads in approval and say they always knew this would happen and that it was obvious. I think a lot of people will be very excited about the reveal when it becomes official - my lips of course are sealed for now!
I thus far own two of Tom’s creations - the Arcades and Chase Bliss Audio Compact version of Generation Loss - which is the perfect form factor for me. I will probably get the Dark World eventually too and that then will be my capsule collection for that part of Tom’s journey. Even though the V2 Generation Loss is the best version of that circuit, the CBA version is still the most suitable for my needs!
I’ve selected some of my favourite Cooper FX Demos to round up this ’In Memoriam’ piece - by Scott ’knobs_demos’ Harper and Devon Blue Whitaker - two of the most creative videographers of that scene! :
