JHS takes a leaf out of IKEA's playbook with its $99 Notaklön solderless simple-assembly kit

JHS certainly have next level marketing panache - and this is another beautifully packaged project all-round.

A truly easy assembly solderless kit consisting of just 25 parts all told - plus a tube of goop, and an underside sticker. It’s your classic 3-knob Klon - with JHS Shamrock Mod - i.e. the -/+ switch which adds a +4dB Gain Boost.

The Circuit Board/s are fully pre-populated with all the essential components - while like an Airfix / Revell model kit you need to separate the 2 boards from the plastic surround, and leverage out the two spanners / wrenches.

Then it’s just a matter of doing final assembly - attaching boards, knobs, output socket lugs and the like. Gooping the essential mojo Diodes (not specified) if you feel the need.

Assembly should not take more than a few minutes really (they advise no more than 15 minutes) - and is suitable for all ages pretty much. This is a really cool concept and project beautifully executed.

I already have probably too many Klones - and besides - I mostly like mine to be in Compact or Mini enclosures.

But for anyone getting their first Klone - this is pure genius.

It’s really a 3-Series pedal in everything bar final format - as it very much has the 3-knobs and 2-way toggle of that series - and that same flat white look - and indeed price tag!

I’m still kind of tempted to go for one - while I have better things to spend my money on right at this moment.

Congrats to JHS again - they found yet another niche and majorly capitalised on it.

I wonder if we will see any more of this IKEA style series?

Of course available for order / preorder on the JHS Pedals Webstore.

Not much more to say really - it’s a great sounding Klon style overdrive for which you do the final assembly yourself - but just the simple bits really! Does everything it’s supposed to - and with considerable style!
