The inspiration or catalyst for this pedal was Champion Leccy’s End of Days Fuzz Challenge - so this Dual Band Superdrive very evidently reaches into proper Fuzz territory.
Controls : High (High Band Gain + Bias), Filter (Presence / LPF / Mids / EQ), Low (Low Band Gain + Bias), Master (Volume), Input (Headroom / Saturation).
At its core it’s a very unique drive pedal with Parallel Gain Circuits - where the High and Low knobs adjust both Gain and Bias Voltage Simultaneously for High and Low Band Circuits. The Low Band Circuit has rather more headroom than the High - so adjust accordingly.
The Filter control is an EQ control - whose impact changes slightly depending on where the High and Low Band dials are set - depending on the output - the Filter can adjust Presence, LPF, or Mids frequency. Those 3 left-hand knobs are incredibly interactive.
The Master knob then is just a fairly straightforward Output Level control, while the Input knob boosts or attenuates Headroom and Saturation.
All in all a very distinct gain machine with very unique controls - and a particularly broad range of output - from smooth and tasteful to more ragged broken and torn-apart sounds.
I really rather like this particular confection, and it of course goes straight onto the wishlist!
The pedal graphics and knob choices are just perfect too! Available from the Unsound Circuitry Webstore for €149.
