I have been meaning to acquire a Heather Brown pedal for a while - where until now her flagship pedal has been The Blessed Mother Immaculator Clean Blend Overdrive - which has been available in all kinds of cool limited edition versions - where I particularly liked the look of the Fuzz Assumption edition.
In any case she has had a new pedal out for a couple of months now - which I just caught up to recently. The Sensation Fuzzdrive is both a Fuzz and Overdrive pedal while not exactly really being either at the same time - but rather occupying a somewhat middle-ground which combines the best of those two offerings.
Controls - Volume, Saturator : 3-way Gain-Stage Rotary, Mids : ø / + / ++, Bass : ø / + / ++, Gain : Lo / Hi.
You start off by setting the Saturator control to one of 3 transistor gain stage levels, then adjust Volume, Mids, Bass and Gain - where 2 of those switches are 3-way controls going from least amount at the bottom as far as I can gather - to most at the top, while Gain is Hi up and Low down.
I’ve long been a fan of Fuzzy-Drive tones - which for me encompasses pedal genres like Dumble, Expandora, Power Boost and Red Llama. I’ve collected pedals within that genre from the start - and the Sensation Fuzzdrive is exactly the kind of Fuzzy-Drive that I like - with really smart and easy-to-apply controls.
I of course have one en route to me now - acquired from the Heather Brown Electronicals Webstore - and priced at $249.99.
I’m really looking forward to getting this one into the pedal-chain - are any of you Heather Brown fans too?
