The BJFE Silver Bee is another of those pedals that I’ve long had on my wishlist - initially intending to get it in early Bearfoot FX edition, then BJFE edition - while favourite now has to be this latest super pedalboard-friendly OneControl Mini iteration.
It has the same side-mounted Vintage / Modern switch and 4-knob topology as the Custom Mini Honey Bee. And while the Honey Bee is originally Supro inspired - somewhat warm and fuzzy - and kind of edging into Tweed territory. The Silver Bee is brighter and sparklier and much closer to Fender Silver Face territory. The Silver Bee has a somewhat more reduced Mids presence too - in keeping with the sort of Fender frequency profile.
I really love my various Honey Bee iterations - including BJFE 4K and OneControl Custom Mini of course - and this Silver Bee is a sure-fire shoe-in for me too.
Controls - Volume, Drive, Bass, Treble, Voicing : Modern / Vintage.
The Modern / Vintage switch - gives you a touch more gain and attack in Modern mode.
I got my Honey Bee Mini Custom from friend Sebastian Nylund at These Go To 11 - and will likely hit him up again when I come after this Silver Bee Mini. It’s certainly on the cards, while I’ve already acquired more than enough pedals for January already - so it will be a February thing at the earliest. It may even come through to the Andertons Webstore eventually (UK Dealer)! Looks like current RRP is around $229.
I’m still very much in the process of completing my Björn Juhl capsule collection - and the Silver Bee is an essential addition for that.
How many of you are Björn Juhl fans like me?
