OneControl shrinks Classic 4-Knob BJFE Honey Bee Overdrive into 2 Editions of Mini Enclosure as a 20th Anniversary Homage to that celebrated circuit

I’m not sure how I feel about this one! Not long after I get my much sought-after 4-knob BJFE Honey Bee - admittedly handmade edition - OneControl has now taken that self same circuit and squeezed it into a Mini Enclosure - as you can see from the above visual. Albeit we get 2 slightly different versions of the Mini with a special Custom Mini Edition too.

Controls - Volume, Drive, Bass, Treble.

Mini Custom - additional Vintage / Modern slider switch (Higher Gain) on left-side

Controls are mostly identical, apart from on the Mini Custom where you get the additional slider switch on the side which allows you to flip to Modern Higher Gain Mode - versus stock Vintage voicing.

There is just one proper demo out so far (of the Mini Standard) - by Mike Hermans - which sounds suitably impressive (as below) - while the price points here are pretty high relatively on these according to the OneControl USA site at c$290 RRP for the Mini Standard and c$300 for the Mini Custom. I guess this is justifiable as a 20th Anniversary edition of that much celebrated circuit.

No sign of either of these on Andertons yet - where they are now the main UK OneControl dealer - will be interesting to see what the price point will be there - considering the dollar is almost at parity with the pound now - and we were already getting somewhat inflated currency exchange rates.

So I’m slightly conflicted here as to how much I want one at that price point - considering I have the full fat original. I would imagine there would be some parts variances between compact and mini editions. And this spikes the price up quite considerably for the OneControl minis - where judging from Andertons, they average around £120 currently. Jumping from £120 to nearly £300 is quite the leap!

UPDATE! - Checking on good friend Sebastian Nylund’s These Go to 11 site - the Mini Custom is priced at SEK 2195 there (c£180 / $205) which seems a lot more reasonable!

Be interesting to know how excited you Björn Juhl fans are about this?

I feel I would be totally justified in going for the Mini Custom edition - but will likely phone a friend on that! Will let you know what happens there in future update!
