JAM Pedals takes its Eureka Ducky Fuzz to its logical evolution with a 3D-Printing masterclass. The Eureka Fuzz of course combines Fuzz Face and Big Muff voicings in a single circuit - aided by a smart 3-way Bass Boost Switch.
Controls - Level, Tone, Gain, Bass Boost Switch : +1 / 0 / +2.
JAM Pedals is of course very well known for its artistry and artisan approach to pedal making - where all of its pedals are hand-painted. While their limited edition EureQuack edition of the Eureka Fuzz takes this one step further.
It reminds me of Dr. No Effects which is the only other fully artisan pedal-maker that comes to mind - and where there’s every bit as much attention placed on the design and detail of the enclosures as on their pedals’ core circuits.
On this occasion JAM Pedals have built a sort of exoskeleton for their Eureka Fuzz - as inside all that hand-painted 3D-printed plastic - you will find the very self same Eureka Fuzz Metal enclosure. Obviously the knobs are different, and the Footswitch has a very distinctive life-preserver topper - while the Eureka Fuzz in its entirety sits on the inside of all of that.
When first seeing this incredible artwork - I thought that there were a couple of detail points missing. I would have created a 3D-printed surround for the LED - to make it look more like a plug-hole, and I would have make a switch topper for the toggle-switch also - possible a bar of soap, or rubber bath plug shape - some other object / accoutrement that fits the bath diorama / scenario.
Of course the ’enclosure-wrap’ adds quite a bit to the footprint of the pedal - and reduces its practicality a touch. Also I’m not sure I would ever see this on a gigging board! It really is rather just a working collector’s item / edition - which I would of course love to own, but goes very much on the nice-to-have list rather than the must-have one.
I’ve owned the standard Eureka Fuzz for many years now - and really like it - that goes for €209 / $219 / £179 where the Limited EureQuack goes for €359 / $369 / £299. The first batch of EureQuacks consisted of just 10 units - which sold out pretty much instantly. There is a waiting list currently for the next / second batch - which has yet to be announced (numbers etc.). If you want to be in on the waiting list you need to send an email to : support@jampedals.com.
Props once more to Jannis and his team for further evolving ’the art of the pedal’. I love that this pedal exists - while currently I cannot really justify its acquisition - as I have so many priority pedals on my acquisition list - and in the most basic of terms - I already own this exact same circuit in its standard iteration. Would be lovely to own one of these - which for me would very much be shelf-ware - I would never let this get anywhere near my pedalboard - as I would not want to rub off or scratch any part of that gorgeous looking artefact!
I also of course need to get my hands on the Octaurus first - so that’s the JAM Pedals priority for me!
How do you all feel about this masterpiece? Are any of you thinking of pulling the trigger on this one?
