I’ve been peripherally aware for Aisha Loe for quite a while - where her appearance in the recent Pedal Movie sort of cemented my appreciation for her approach to Pedal-Design and Output. Part Engineer, part Innovator, and part Up-cycler - Aisha is every bit the contemporary pioneer. And while I do though track around 500 different pedal brands - it’s never easy to keep tabs on everything - so for some bizarre reason Aisha’s various iterations of Superfuzz sort of weirdly passed under my radar.
I follow Instagram Buddy Matt Bradford very closely - who is my favourite Fuzz Virtuoso alongside David Torn - and it was his demo of the Loe Sounds Superfuzz that finally convinced me that this was something I had to have.
Aisha’s artistry means that every batch of Superfuzz has its own look and feel - where I’ve featured 3 of my favourite ones in the above visual - which also happen to be 3 of the most recent. I was just a little bit off the pace this time - but I’m determined to be in on the next round - as long as that treatment is fairly similar to the above - I really like the copper-accented editions - while the middle one - also the one that Matt Bradford has - is my favourite version to date.
This Superfuzz has 3 Controls - Balance (Level), Tone, and Expander (Gain).
What is particularly innovative here is the smooth and even taper of the Expander / Gain control which renders cool low-gain, but textured overdrive and fuzzy-drive tones at the lowest levels of gain. This pedal is just a little more granular than others of its ilk - with lots of versatility and variety along each of those 3 dials.
These get released in relatively small batches - just 10 or 20 pieces as far as I’m aware - and they typically go for around $250 each.
As mentioned - I missed out on the last batch, but will keep tabs on the Loe Sounds Instagram Page, and Loe Goods Website / Webstore - to ensure I don’t miss out again!
What about you dear readers - besides Matt - do any of you have one of these?
