Controls - Volume, Tone (Dark > Bright), Distortion (Sustain), Mids : Boosted, Flat, Scooped (Stock), Gain : More Gain / Less Gain (Stock), Lift (1st Stage Diodes Lift).
There’s no shortage of decent Big Muff variants out there, while this one is a little more clever than most. At its core it reminds me of Mike Vickery’s Vick Audio take on Big Muffs - with that same sort of 3-way Mids EQ switch. In addition it has a High/Low Gain switch, and a 1st Stage Diodes Lift switch for louder and more textured output.
So this is very much an Extended Range Green Russian Muff - with 3 additional switches as described.
If you’re used to deploying Vick Audio Muffs then you largely know what you have here with just a touch more granularity still. There’s not much more to say here apart from tat I really like the Antlers graphic which I feel I’ve seen some place else previously.
I’ve still to decide how essential this one is - with 70 odd Big Muffs in the collection already I’m not sure I need any more - while this would certainly be nice to have in addition - time will tell!
The Antlers Fuzz is currently available on Pre-Order from the Calico Effects Webstore, for a very reasonable $149.
Has any among you tried this one out yet?
