This new hybrid fuzz pedal is in a similar format to Subdecay’s recent PixelWave Phase Distortion Synth. It has the same 11 Mode (0-10) Mode Selector and overall 5 knobs + 3-way Toggle Edit Mode switch. Obviously quite different parameters and output - but same in layout and similar in function.
Controls - GAIN / Pre-Comp, TONE / Pre-HPF, OFFSET (Bias)| MIX / Pre-LPF, VOLUME, EDIT MODE : PRE / ANALOG / Shaper, FUZZ TYPE : 1-11 / Chorus & Flange, Hold Footswith to Save Preset.
This is very much a Multi-Fuzz unit which folds in digital waveforms in parallel to an Analog voiced fuzz. You can set the central Edit switch to adjust different parameters - in the Noise Theory - you have core default control for Gain, Tone, Mix, Volume and Fuzz Type Select. Where Volume is constant and universal, Analog Edit covers just the top-3 Gain, Tone, and Mix knobs; Digital Shaper Fuzz edit covers Gain, Tone, Offset (Bias) and Type Select; and Pre-Fuzz Edit covers - Compression, HighPass Filter, LowPass Filter, and Chorus Type - further references below! :
3 EDIT MODES with VOLUME constant
FUZZ TYPE
You get 11 different voicings out of this pedal - covering both classic and more experimental sounds - and delivering quite different texture at the star and end of the Gain Sweep.
You can then save your own preferred Setting / Presets for each of the 11 : 0-10 Modes by press-holding the Footswitch for a couple of seconds when in that mode. The main LED will flash to signal when your’re in Edit Modes, and when new Preset has been saved - you can exit by hitting the Footswitch again at any time.
This is a fabulous compact Multi-Fuzz unit - which has a really broad scope. I’m sure that parts of it will be a little fiddly to dial in - but I’m definitely up for the challenge. And this goes directly on the wishing - as soon as my friend Joe Light - Joe’s Pedals Boutique has some of these in stock I will pull the trigger.
The Noise Theory Parallel Wave-Folding Analog + Digital Fuzz is available for orders now on the Subdecay Webstore, where it starts shipping tomorrow - 22nd of February. Hopefully these will be at Joe’s Pedals Boutique fairly imminently too! Pricing is $199 and equivalent - presumable £199 etc.
