I’ve still to acquire David’s superb Giant Hogweed Dual Octave Fuzz - and now have two to get as the new Lilac Cloud is just as impressive.
Controls : Feedback (Oscillation), Treble, Volume, Flab (Mass / Pitched Oscillation), Clip : Up is Compressed Symmetric Silicon / Down is No Clipping, Bass, Gain.
This time around the fuzz is all about Self-Oscillation - which is brought on by the Feedback and Flab controls. The latter controls how much low-end goes into the circuit which further accentuates the breakup and oscillation of the output. That then combines with Two-Band EQ and a Clipping switch - which delivers Symemtric Silicon Diodes when Up, and Open / No Clipping when Down.
You can play the pedal with or without the self-oscillation - as that element is engaged by the left footswitch, while the right-hand footswitch engages the core fuzz.
Obviously both Drolo fuzzes are BB-vertical size - which means they naturally go in on slot #20 - occasionally on #16 in my pedal-chain.
Both fuzzes sound great - and are both available on the Drolo Webstore - when in stock. David tends to make them in batches of 10 or so - so you need to be subscribed to his Newsletter if you want to be sure to get one.
I have so many ongoing commitments that timing is often not right for me as I’m already committed to the hilt of my budget. I often miss out on the first few batches of limited releases - before the stars finally align. I am definitely down for getting both the Lilac Cloud and Giant Hogweed - I just hope the next batch comes through at the right time! Generally early in the month is best for me - while later on I tend to be somewhat overcommitted. All things in good time as they say!
What of you dear readers - anyone down for the Lilac Cloud or Giant Hogweed?
