Built with the same controls and topology - each of this pair of tone enhancers has a slightly different gain profile - with the Eros being somewhat Dirty in nature, while the Hera is somewhat more transparent. The Eros has been honed and optimised to work with down-tuned right for maximum total destruction - where there is a slight grit in the signal throughout. For the Hera the Boost is mostly Transparent and that pedal plays well with all amps really.
I would very loosely classify the Eros as being somewhat ’Dirty’ while the Hera is rather cleaner at the start of its profile. Both have plenty of Gain onboard - so you can really attack the front of your amp.
Controls - Level, Gain, Feel : Fat / Tight / Thick, Mode : Clip / Clean / Dirt, Bass, Middle, Treble.
These are their own thing really, not based on any specific existing overdrive circuit, and certainly not Tube Screamer variants. I would fancy these as really versatile tone enhancers - where the Active 3-Band EQ really adds to the experience.
As always KSR gives you lots of different options with the enclosure colour and texture, knobs can be either Black, White or Transparent, and you can change what colour the KSR letters illuminate in.
Pricing is $229.99 in the US, and £239 in the UK - at Andertons. My good friends at the Audio Distribution Group now distribute this brand widely throughout Europe - so it’s a lot more easy to get your hands on that it used to be - I was conflicted between the Ceres and Vesta for along time - before I sort of came down in favour of the Vesta (still to make that happen!), and I’m somewhat conflicted on whether Eros or Hera would be the right choice for me in this context - I’m something of an eclectic player.
What’s clear though is that KSR Amps make some really killer devices - with plenty of gears to move you through several degrees and types of gain.
