This is far from Blammo’s first attempt at a Zonk Machine - where I covered its earlier Zonch Machine in a 2020 Zonk genre rundown. I had always intended to pick up one of those at some stage - but as is sometimes the case it’s as well that I held out as I feel that their newest variant is likely their best take yet.
It’s a properly authentic and wholly vintage inspired 3-Germanium Transistor construction - utilising Soviet MΠ38A flying saucer types. It has a few modern concessions - including the transistors being NPN rather than PNP variants - which means you can deploy just a standard centre negative 9V power supply.
It also has a handy Tone control - which when dialled back takes you well into MKI Tone Bender territory. I have a few pedals which do the MKI / Zonk thing - and I really look out for those.
I keep meaning to pick up more Blammo! Electronics pedals - while to date I only have one - a superb transparent / Lexan MKIII Tomb Sender.
Controls - Swell, Fuzz, Tone (HiCut > Flat).
These are exceptionally well priced at $170 - where your typical Zonk variant goes for around twice that price. Get yours from the Blammo! Electronics Webstore - it’s a steal!
