My good friend Dan @ Buzzing Bugs Audio has a super sale on for the whole of this month - in order to gather funds for some exciting new projects in early 2025.
I was instrumental in getting Dan to switch to higher quality Milled Aluminium knobs - which fully reflect the quality of his well thought out circuits.
I have all 4 of these - all are excellent, while I particularly favour the BB01 Fuzzy Voxy Preamp, and the BB03 Lo-Fi Chorus / Vibrato / Warble - with Reverb - both of those are really excellent.
While funnily the BB02 has proved to be the most popular over the years, and the dual-natured Overdrive is pretty excellent too - all sound great and work wholly effortlessly and intuitively - as always mileage my vary, while the BB01 and BB03 are the two here that bring me the most delight. The BB01 which has been awarded 9/10 and Recommended status by Guitar.com. While if I could only have 1 of these - then it would definitely be the gorgeous and versatile chorus.
Here are the quartet in question :
And further individual details follow below as usual.
Each of these can be acquired for just £99 for the whole month of December on the Buzzing Bugs Webstore - now is a great time to add one or more of these to your collection - support small indpendent pedal builders!
Controls - Volume, Hi-Cut, Gain.
The BB01 is very much in Fuzzy-Drive territory for me, I can't remember who told me, but there are supposedly significant similarities between a Fuzz Face and AC30 topology in certain regards - so depending on how you tune that circuit you can get quite markedly different results. For me this really is a Fuzz / Fuzzy-Drive, and I prefer it to the Percolator as it's slightly fatter and juicier - while the Percolator is very accurate and authentic to its genre.
Controls - Gain, Volume.
A classic take on the Interfax Harmonic Percolator - with just the 2 original controls - where typically I go for a little more extended range. While despite its simplicity this is a very decent sounding Percolator - which I believe is the most popular Buzzing Bugs pedal to-date. It does exactly what it should - with decent ranges on each dial, while the tapers are a little lopsided in terms of degree of onset. But a really great sounding Percolator in any case.
Controls - Room (ambience), Depth, Time, Mix, Age (warble).
My favourite of the bunch - just a wonderful sounding analog Chorus / Vibrato - which you can then make progressively ambient and more Lo-Fi by adding in degrees of Room Reverb and Age Warble. One of my favourite choruses for sure.
Controls - Volume, Gain, Tone, Body (bass boost).
A really cool dual-natured organic overdrive which touches one both BluesBreaker, and bassier Blues-Driver styles. Not that this is a replica of either circuit - but more about the range and overall texture and character of the two sides of the drive. Basically without the Body Bass Boost - your'e pretty much in BluesBreaker style territory, while with the Body engaged you sort of flip over into bassier Blues-Driver territory. Even just with just 3 main controls this is a highly versatile drive pedal.
