So a brand new Source Audio NEURO 3 App Extension released today gives you a really innovative way to explore the entire library of Source Audio Tones / Effects - across all its individual devices.
This new App Extension is a mix of Presets Manager and Effects Emulator / Sampler. Here the older non-synth meaning of sampler - more akin to carpet and wallpaper swatch samplers - and indeed say Pantone Colour Swatches.
You can call up any of Source Audio’s devices on the NEURP 3 App - including all your favourites - Collider, Nemesis, Ventris, Artifakt etc. - and forthcoming Encounter Echo-Verb. Each of Source Audio’s 20 or so effects pedals can be virtually accessed - where every algorithm and mode has been emulated for sampling / sound-check purposes - courtesy of a number of programmed Presets.
This SoundCheck App also stores all your different Presets across every one one of your Source Audio devices - and allows you to manage and setup new ones via the App - and then update your pedal via USB cable.
This will prove particularly handy for those who have bought into the Source Audio Eco System en masse - or are thinking of doing so.
For someone like me - who only owns the Ventris and Artifakt - I don’t really feel I need it (yet) - while it of course allows the presets on those devices to be managed rather more elegantly. I personally am not the biggest fan of having to connect a cable to my device - much preferring the wireless / Bluetooth route - which has been part of the electronic / mobile ecosphere for a good decade or so already. While I do realise Bluetooth has licensing costs, and is not a suitable for route for smaller pedal companies (too expensive generally).
You essentially have a comprehensive collection of unaffected, pre-recorded guitar, bass, and keyboard clips (samples) which you can then select and run through any of the App’s stored Presets.
Another brand new feature in NEURO 3 is ’Guest Mode’ which gives anyone who has downloaded the free app the ability to quickly access a selection of NEURO features without creating a personal account or signing in to an existing one. Of course registering and logging in will give you access to a slightly larger range of features.
The SoundCheck rollout begins on Thursday March 20, 2025 - which is the day most of you will be reading this, and it will run for 14 days. Each day, Source Audio will introduce a new curated collection of SoundCheck presets for a different pedal. To celebrate the launch, Source Audio will give away a different pedal every day.
NEURO Community members can sign up to win each day’s pedal, by making a comment on their favorite preset. The winner will be randomly drawn from each day’s entries and announced on Friday April 4. At the conclusion of the 14-day rollout (Thursday April 3), Source Audio will fully open SoundCheck, giving users complete access to explore the over 10,000 presets available in NEURO.
You can read up more about the SoundCheck Extension on the Source Audio Website.
I feel that this is a really smart rollout - that gives you multiple benefits - including trialling effects and their presets before you buy - so you can get a proper feel for a prospective Source Audio device in the most easily accessible manner!
