I am one of the many that succumbed to the charms of the original Soldano SLO Pedal - released in 2022. That featured an expansive take on the legendary amp’s Overdrive Channel. It was / is an expansive version with 3-Band EQ plus Presence and Depth - and is exactly what I would want my Soldano to sound like. I never felt I missed the 2nd Normal Channel.
While Mike Soldano - in being the completist that he is - decided to deliver a SLO Plus pedal - which included the Normal Channel too. The core parameters are the same as the single channel pedal - you just now have separate volume and gain (Master and Preamp) controls for each side - everything else is the same!
SLO Pedal Controls - Volume, Presence, Gain, Treble, Middle, Bass, Depth (on side).
SLO Pedal Plus Controls - OVERDRIVE } Master (Volume), Preamp (Gain); NORMAL } Master (Volume), Preamp (Gain); UNIVERSAL } Treble, Middle, Bass, Presence, Depth (on side), Normal / Overdrive Channel Footswitch, Bypass Footswitch.
I think for some it will make sense to have the Normal channel at your disposal too, while for many who just want that core signature flavour of Soldano - then probably the earlier pedal is enough.
The Soldano SLO Plus is currently down on my list as a nice-to-have, I’m not fully committed to it yet, surmising that the original SLO Pedal might be all that I need. I’m not sure I would necessarily get maximum use out of the second channel - but I’m still considering it!
Both the SLO and the SLO Plus are available in standard White - $199.99 and $269.99 respectively - both are also available in metallic Purple editions - at $239.99 and $299.99, and the SLO is also available in Black for $239.99 - all available for orders now on the Soldano Webstore.
