TCE’s new Infinite Sample Sustainer essentially fades in layers of sustained samples over the top of each other. It catches snapshots of your input and allows you to set the Freeze / Sustain Level via Decay, as well as the Pace of Fade-ins. You can choose number of layers that get swapped around - from a single over-written one to two, three, and infinite layers. You also have 3 customisable TonePrints for even more nuanced effect, and a built in Reverb voicing - which you select via the Dry/Verb toggle switch.
To make things even more interesting there is an Effects Loop Send and Return insert - which means you can load other pedals / effects into the makeup of those layers - for even more varied and interesting textures!
Finally you also have a Latching / Momentary toggle switch to select how the Footswitch operates. Interestingly there is no ’MESH’ functionality engaged by the Footswitch on this occasion.
This is really cool effect - which kind of takes EHX’s Freeze effect / pedal to a new level - with the ability to stack layers in a creative manner - so essentially different pads fading in and out over the top of each other.
Controls - Decay (Layer Sustain), Reverb : Dry / Verb, Level, Fade In (Pace of Transition), Footswitch Mode - Latch / Momentary, FX Type (Number of Layers) : L1 - L4, TP1 - TP3.
It’s certainly an intriguing and cool new effect and for sure an upgrade over the EHX Freeze - which I’ve long since considered getting in. This is not an everyday effect really, but a quite formidable occasional ambient effect - which can provide some really cool accompaniment to your playing - so probably filed under ’nice-to-have’ rather than essential.
It’s priced at a very reasonable $149 / €139 / £149 and should be coming into stock in a month or so. It definitely goes in on the wishlist, but not really under any sort of priority. I will for sure be getting one - just not particularly imminently. I’ve been meaning to get a Ditto+ since that first materialised - while my only recent TCE acquisition has been the Paul Gilbert Mojo Mojo Signature Edition. So I definitely have some catching up to do.
Are any of you keen on this?
