Do please note that this is the 3rd roundup in the series - for those looking for more classic / vintage guitar designs - then the first part is the more pertinent for your preferences. Part 2 became a little more eclectic and avant-garde, while this Part 3 is an even mix of more classic / traditional designs and more modern and futuristic.
This part plays some fan service in covering some of the more popular omissions from the previous posts - while I don’t subscribe to the same view for every single of those requests!
I’ve included Randy Rhoads’ Jackson Concorde V Model here, but not the Dotted Sandoval predecessor - whose body shape is too close to the original Gibson Flying V. Also several people have asked why no Gretsch - where I feel a lot of those models are a touch derivative (often more about differences in fixtures and fittings than overall shape) - while a White and Gold Gretsch is totally iconic - so in the end I went for a fairly recent Eletromatic Reissue Double Cut - in fact the same one that Mick Taylor happens to own - I don’t really like the shape of the Single Cut Falcon - the selected one is much more aesthetically pleasing to me!
People also asked about Strandberg (Boden) and ESP LTD Snakebyte - so I’ve included cool versions of each those. Of note in this selection are a number of headless designs (not that you would necessarily be aware from the nature of those representations).
We also significantly have 3 here from Rick Toone, two from Adam Wehsely-Sciczinsky’s Mada Guitars and two from Frank Hartung. I feel it’s another really cool and notable selection - and hopefully I’m introducing some of you to new and appealing guitar shapes that you’ve not encountered before!
I think I should have enough left over for the 4th and final roundup - of course I would appreciate your assistance here in covering varieties that I’ve hitherto overlooked. Remembering that they need to be fairly distinctive and unique to that one brand! I was getting far too many requests for derivative designs - e.g. ESP’s Eclipse / EC types - which for sure have more of a point to their single cutaway - but they’re still unmistakably ’Les Paul’.
I recap on the visual one more before the rundown listings, and then below that I have each of the Parts 1-3 in order - so you can view them all in context - to figure out which remaining / outstanding ones I could / should feature in my final part!
Rundown as per visual (but in no particular order!)
