So I’m a little later than most in getting my Reverend 2 - but that is because in the same shipment it included Decibelics’ next wonder pedal - which is due for release at the end of October. The Reverend V1 Mini Expandora was already a fantastic pedal - squeezing the complex Bixonic Expandora into a mini enclosure - and delivering more even and consistent output across all 4 modes - Crunch, Overdrive, Distortion, and Forbidden Fuzz!
I know of few pedals more potent across the gain range ...
So I’ve obviously covered each of these pedals individually and in real depth - so please refer to the earlier articles if you need more details. The purpose of this exercise is to pick out my favourite/s from the series - which is really about comparing those 4 pedals head-to head across my 2 favourite settings for each - pitting one against the other - back and forth - until we have a preferences.
Note - that if you want to skip all the preamble - you can just scroll down to the bottom ...
Another strong month for sure! A little dominated by Keeley Electronics, but some solid releases over the month - with a crazy flurry towards the end - to coincide with Europe’s largest Guitar Gear Show - Mannheim’s Guitar Summit. It seems evident now that Guitar Summit is an event I should really be at - and I will make a concerted effort to be their next year.
As it was I attended just one guitar gear event this month - EarthQuaker Devices Showcase at GuitarGuitar in Camden - where I got ...
I’m somewhat bemused with YouTube demoers making lofty proclamations wholly without context, and without reference to any other Dumble-style pedals - as if Universal Audio had invented something entirely new here. There are currently 35 demos out there on YouTube for this one pedal - where pretty much in unison those reviewers are proclaiming the Enigmatic as the best thing since sliced bread!
No mention of the incredible analog Tanabe Dumkudo/Zenkudo, Demon Pedals Kondo-Shifuku, or Custom ...
Interestingly we have had a couple of step changes over the last few years - first with a Bass Cut switch appearing inside the battery compartment on the last standard model, and then with the recent Gold 30th Anniversary Edition - where we got a fully surface-accessible and fully variable mini Bass-Cut knob - which now gets to be standard issue.
The compact ODR-1X also gets an external Gain Boost push-button, and inside the battery bay we now have an easy-access switch for flipping between...
I have always liked the look of the Walrus Audio Mako Series of MI Multi-Modulator, D1 Delay, R1 Reverb and ASC1 Amp Cab and Sim. And feel that these latest changes have really propelled some of these to the top of their respective categories - particularly in terms of Compact Enclosure Editions!
The new control interface is actually remarkably simple and intuitive - the knobs above each of the 3 screen segments allow you to click through different ’pages’ or screen of options - where you ...
First launched in 2014 - the BitQuest Multi-FX / Multi-FX-Fuzz / Fuzz-Modulator - quickly became Dr Scientist’s most popular and best-selling pedal - and has held the line ever since - despite fierce competition from my other Frazz Dazzler Fuzz favourite! According to Ryan- there are only 2 core models of this pedal - the one which originated in 2014 - which holds all the way through to 2020 - while there are some circuitboard variations along the way too. Before 2020 you first move the Fuzz/...
So I attended a GuitarGuitar Camden 20th Anniversary EarthQuaker Devices Showcase Event last Tuesday the 24th! The guests of honour obviously being Pedal Power Couple - Husband and Wife team Jamie Stillman and Julie Robbins. This was actually only their second visit to the UK - the first being another whistle-stop tour in 2018 or thereabouts. This time around they were being chaperoned around by good friend of ours Tom Bodfish from Northern Europe EQD Distributor - Audio Distribution Group.

The colour and moniker of this new Diamond Pedals Delay accurately describes its relationship to the legacy smoother more classic Memory Lane mainstay. The controls and core functions are identical across the two pedals - it’s just the 3 core modes that are different. The Memory lane is more traditionally inspired with Modern, Warm and Vintage Modes, where the Dark Cloud has vintage inspired Tape, and then the more unusual / modern Harmonic and Reverse voicings.
I mostly use tape-style ...
So this is a sort of Hybrid take on the OCD, where Volodymyr tells me the tone stack is circa OCD 1.3, while the various constituents and components are a mix covering 1.4 / 1.7 / 2.0 and GE variants in the main. The Albert is kind of an Omni-OCD in a sense - with that extra Boost, a little similar to the Tephra without being independent, alongside a handy phat Bass Boost.
Some still get confused by the HP / LP controls - which simply stand for High Peak and Low Peak - where in the down ...
