Interestingly we have had a couple of step changes over the last few years - first with a Bass Cut switch appearing inside the battery compartment on the last standard model, and then with the recent Gold 30th Anniversary Edition - where we got a fully surface-accessible and fully variable mini Bass-Cut knob - which now gets to be standard issue.
The compact ODR-1X also gets an external Gain Boost push-button, and inside the battery bay we now have an easy-access switch for flipping between True and Buffered Bypass. Otherwise it’s the self same monster Spectrum Tone Stack Nashville Secret Weapon Overdrive.
The ODR-Mini finally copies the Wampler Belle Mini Overdrive take on that same circuit - which has had a 4th Bass control since it first materialised in October 2020. So good to see that the Mini is now fully up to spec also!
For me the compact ODR-1X is now pretty much an essential buy with those latest changes - albeit it’s not quite as potent as my Kai Tachibana Nordland Electronics variants of those same core circuits. Kai was the one that originally created the ODR-1 circuit - and is still very much the category expert.
The ODR-1X though has really come of age here and is fantastic value at €149 / £129 / $149, and the ODR-Mini is even more accessible at €79 / £69 / $69 - compared to the Wampler Mini Belle - which is at $149 - so you have options - and choices to make!
My pick here is definitely the ODR-1X - those are the perfect upgrades for that pedal!
