I do like my Reverbs, and have always been intrigued by the more sci-fi sounding variants. The Ricorda was originally down on my ’nice-to-have’ list, until I lucked out with my Chase Bliss Mystery Box - and got one as a bonus pedal!
Essentially you have a huge spatial ambient reverb with a smart granular delay, and then Freeze and Loop functions via the left Footswitch.
I had not fully appreciated the scope of capabilities when I did my original write-up. While this is every way a ...
33 slots updated this year - #2, #3, #4, #5, #7, #9a, #9b, #10, #11, #12, #15a, #15b, #15c, #16, #17, #18, #19, #20, #22a, #22b, #23, #24, #25, #26, #29, #30, #31, #32, #33, #34, #36, #38, and #41.
There’s been a fair amount of re-routing and re-organising this year - which you should be able to pick via the pattern of changes. The introduction of the stereo Poly Amplitude introduced the biggest change to the board order - to get th most out of that format!
I try to limit acquisitions /...
I obviously just recently won me an AC Noises Ricorda Retro Series Reverb as a Chase Bliss Mystery Box Bonus Pedal - so the first iteration I had to make on this article was to update the standard Blue Ricorda image to the limited colourway edition that I was gifted by my Mystery Box. This selection is typically the one where I own the least proportion of pedals featured, in fact in this case it’s easier to list the few that I own here :
"While knowing my luck I will probably end up with one of the 18 Chase Bliss pedals I already own."
And that was mostly the case per predictions - as I staged a second Onward pedal. However - my luck was still in - as I was one of the only around 8%-percenters which received a bonus pedal too - and it’s actually something I was quite keen on already - a limited colourway of the AC Noises Ricorda Stereo Granular Reverb + Freeze / Loop - which is another $399 value pedal!
Ricorda Controls...
Tom Kogut’s new pedal is named after the largest ever space rocket made to date - the SpaceX Super Heavy First Stage Booster Rocket - designed for sending the largest of payloads into space!
Let’s hope the pedal is not as prone to exploding as the device it gets its moniker from - while it is of course highly explosive in the Reverb dimension.
This is Tom’s first new pedal in around 6 years I believe - following on from his inestimably cool Cloudy Digital Multi Effect - which took me a ...
So OBNE has souped up its former compact Dark Star Pad Reverb - where you previously had 3 separate and independent modes of operation - Pitch / Delay / Crush.
For this new enlarged Stereo edition OBNE allows you to use all those textural elements together - with more options and a far higher degree of granularity. This really is a very distinct Reverb sound, and all the more special now with having the ability to mix up those different elements to your own preferences - where on the other ...
Another strong month for sure! A little dominated by Keeley Electronics, but some solid releases over the month - with a crazy flurry towards the end - to coincide with Europe’s largest Guitar Gear Show - Mannheim’s Guitar Summit. It seems evident now that Guitar Summit is an event I should really be at - and I will make a concerted effort to be their next year.
As it was I attended just one guitar gear event this month - EarthQuaker Devices Showcase at GuitarGuitar in Camden - where I got ...
I have always liked the look of the Walrus Audio Mako Series of MI Multi-Modulator, D1 Delay, R1 Reverb and ASC1 Amp Cab and Sim. And feel that these latest changes have really propelled some of these to the top of their respective categories - particularly in terms of Compact Enclosure Editions!
The new control interface is actually remarkably simple and intuitive - the knobs above each of the 3 screen segments allow you to click through different ’pages’ or screen of options - where you ...
First launched in 2014 - the BitQuest Multi-FX / Multi-FX-Fuzz / Fuzz-Modulator - quickly became Dr Scientist’s most popular and best-selling pedal - and has held the line ever since - despite fierce competition from my other Frazz Dazzler Fuzz favourite! According to Ryan- there are only 2 core models of this pedal - the one which originated in 2014 - which holds all the way through to 2020 - while there are some circuitboard variations along the way too. Before 2020 you first move the Fuzz/...
Devin Townsend’s signature Ocean Machine Ambience Workstation first materialised back in 2017. It was packed with features even then - with much the same format and layout as the new one - while the black knobs onto royal blue enclosure made it look a little congested and complicated and somewhat dark and confusing in appearance. The updated look has improved the pedal 100% - helping you to separate out and easily navigate the different sections of the device. The new look and feel really looks...
