Farmer Factory further improves its take on the 1973 Seamoon Fresh Fuzz Opamp variety - now with 3rd Filter knob, top-mounted jacks and beautiful turret-style circuit construction

Readers should recall that I’ve featured two of Sebastien’s Farmer Factory pedals on this site to date. It all kicked off when Josh Scott released the second batch of his Legends of Fuzz Series - which included a take on the Seamoon Fresh Fuzz. I immediately then searched for suitable pedalboard-friendly varieties of that pedal and landed on Sebastien’s superb Fresh Fuzz take. As pictured below.

I later picked up his evolved 3-knob PepBox Fuzz which I also love - a really cool evolved Silicon 3-knob version of that fuzz - again in a really cool compact pedalboard-friendly format. I particular like the artwork - which kind of helped trigger the acquisition decision. Sebastien has made quite a few of those since then. My PepBox is pictured here :

And then barely a week ago I was vowed by this new and improved Fresh Fuzz take pictured up top. It differs from my original one in having a 3rd Filter knob (Hi-Cut), it also has a metal can opamp versus the typical plastic chip - and where it sits at the centre of a beautiful kind of spider-web of a turret style design.

That sort of layout reminds me of JAM Pedals' Custom Shop Rattler - also a sort of 3-knob Fuzz / distortion with 3-knob control topology and featuring Filter knob - and yes also with metal can opamp - obviously an LM308 type at the centre of its own turrets style design.

The Farmer Factory Fresh Fuzz features a metal can JRC4558 opamp - and Sebastien has clevery matched the board and several of its components to the beautiful red hued exterior artwork. I love these kinds of pedals as art types. And Sebastien's prices are still very reasonable - with this Fresh Fuzz currently selling for $240 on the Farmer Factory Reverb.com Store.

I said in my previous Fresh Fuzz review how this was very much a sort of Fuzzy Drive style gain pedal - while it can go relatively searing - but not necessarily full-on fuzz searing - it mostly operates in that beautiful harmonic breakup territory and sounds fantastic - exactly the kind of texture that I love. It's definitely a distinct fuzz flavour that is worth having in your Fuzz Spice Rack as such.

Sebastien is obviously improving and evolving as he goes, and is fast on his way to becoming France's very own 'John Lyons' - he of Basic Audio fame! Sebastien has a real eye for detail and an elevated ear for tone - and he's very progressive in how he evolves and innovates on his builds. Where we're seeing the new pedals increasingly with top-mounted jacks and further refinements to the build and crafting processes - inside and out.

He makes some really tasty Tone Bender varieties - MKI and MKII - which hitherto have just had the traditional Two controls. I would like to see those with a 3rd external Bias Knob - that would then mean I would need to add those to the roster too.

Sebastien is definitely going places - and it's great to be onboard the journey with him - I'm really looking forward to seeing what he does next and where he ends up in a year or two!

All of his Farmer Factory pedals are currently sold via his Reverb.com Store.

There is no new demo yet for this new variant of Fresh Fuzz - so we will make do with the demo of the prototype version of my first Farmer Factory Fresh Fuzz - as below.
