So in an unusual departure for me, I’m going to let you participate in the decision. This is actually quite the conundrum - on account of the wildly varying price points - where each subsequent one is twice the price of its predecessor.
Each one of these is a different device as such - in terms of its workings, design and ergonomics. So you’re not entirely comparing like with like - but then that’s the same with all of pedaldom - where we frequently compare and contrast pedals across various categories - and try to pick out the most deserving winner!
There are a number Criteria that come to mind, including :
Two of these are easily accessible to me - and in fact I own both of those, while one of these is not stocked in the UK currently - and I would have to acquire that from the USA - which is in fact where two of these capos hail from, G7th is from Peterborough in the UK.
You could say that the G7th is structurally the neatest here in terms of its engineering / form-factor - while the Trigger Fly - is possibly the easiest to deploy on-the-fly as such, and the Thalia has its own advantages in on-the-fly placement and handling. All 3 will clip onto your guitar behind the nut as far as I’m aware - while some of these are likely easier to get into position.
The esoteric side of this includes various impact points - in terms of closeness and accuracy of fit - and maintaining the guitar’s core tuning - evenly across all the strings. The Thalia comes with a set of 14 different rubber inserts for different neck radiuses - while that adds a degree of complexity and fiddliness, and where the other 2 rely on the adaptability of their format - where the G7th in particular relies on some very clever dynamics.
Such as I am, I will very likely posses all 3 eventually - and as is often the case - probably use each one in slightly different circumstances.
Most of these are widely available - while there are special editions of each which may be limited to certain territories.
But how about you - which is your favourite here and why?
Here follow some brief overview videos, one for each in order of listing - to give you further insights into the technology! :
