When Bleak District’s Phil decides to make a unique fuzz - then this is the outcome - which combines a core Gated Fuzz voicing with a simple but highly impactful Microlooper with variable clock speed against two frequency ranges.
Controls - Master Volume, Clock Speed / Loop Time, Range : Fast / Slow, Latch Looper : On / Off, On / Off Footswitch, Momentary Loop Footswitch - press and hold.
It’s all rather easy to operate - wile it takes a while to learn the different rhythms of the Microlooper.
How I mostly use it is as a Stutter Fuzz - punching in the momentary microlooper to accentuate every other beat or so. This means I mostly have the Clock Range set to Fast, and the Clock Speed between 10 and 11 o’c depending on the required tempo. I much prefer to use the looper in momentary mode (punch-in) - so I don’t use the Latch option much. Master Volume is mostly set at around 2-3 o’c.
Depending on your particular playing style and pattern there are lots of different loop speeds and loop sizes that can be deployed - for long and languorous phrasing or short bursts as more of a rhythmatic accent - as I mostly use this device.
This is obviously a somewhat experimental pedal - and you really need some time with it to learn its many nuances. Of course it also works brilliantly as a simple One-knob Gated Fuzz too - where the microlooper can be as optional as you desire. The Fuzz voicing is however core.
Another really well-priced (£139) and cleverly designed unique pedal - available for order from the Bleak District Electric Webstore, and of course from my good friend Jim Button’s Boost Guitar Pedals Store.
