It’s only been a short while since I first unveiled the Expression Ramper X3 with all new Holey Kids Artwork in fact barely 2 months ago. That artwork has now been rolled out to several more key pedals in the utility range. While at the same time introducing an all new Expression Ramper, with new features - including a Tap Tempo button. Most of these pedals have been covered in depth before on this site - so this article will really just focus on the new Expression Ramper!
So the Expression...
Another totally mad month for sure - loaded with frenetic activity and peppered with highs as well as crushing disappointments. The first give-away for GPX didn’t quite hit the highs I expected (said give-away closes tonight at 23:59 BST). And there are some weird gaps in the entrants’ home countries - certainly no shortage from the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, or much of mainland Europe. I’m active in a lot more countries than have so far entered the give-away, so I don’t fully understand why ...
The XO Variable Crossover essentially allows you to combine the Lower Frequencies of one pedal with the Higher Frequencies of another - blend them in parallel, and create entirely new textures and tones through that specific pedal combination - and by varying the centre point / mix of each side.
So you have in effect a High Pass Filter on the Right Channel - which shaves off all Lower Frequencies beyond / below the Threshold / Centre Point you set on the Crossover Frequency Knob, and the ...
Hot on the heels of the Purple Guardian of the Wurm, Lilac Moai Maea, Glow-in-the dark Queequeg, and Gold Fuzzly Bear - we have the suitably seasonal Christmassy Red - One-Off Edition of the Tyler Advanced Frequency Splitter.
Every distinct one-off pedal will be signed by KMA’s founder Enrico Preuss, and will have the winner’s name UV printed on the backplate. NOTE that these special pedals will NOT be made available for sale - ever! So they really will be unique One-Off single items.
As ...
Utility pedal launches are rarely exciting events - while on this occasion we have some cool colour accents to brighten things up a touch - and an appealing bear motif design graphics design. These pedals are made to the highest quality standards in Berlin, Germany - yet remain affordable and accessible.
These are obviously your classic consistent connectivity omnidirectional 2>1 / 1>2 pedasls. Going from Mono rig to 2 / Stereo Channels, or say 2 guitars plugged into the same chain ...
So back in 2019 - Reverb.com coordinated Black Friday Limited Blacked Out Editions across 17 Brands and 19 Pedals - and by and large it was a resounding success - a lot of those sold out very quickly - and overall pretty much every special pedal maid was sold in fairly short order.
I always thought it a little surprising that this exercise wasn’t repeated more often as I kind of expected it to be an annual or biennial thing following on from the 2019 event. While we’ve had to wait 4 years ...
The Golden Master Pedal has been somewhat overshadowed by its bigger and somewhat fancier Ghost Pedal sibling - while it really does warrant some significant consideration of its own. Where it essentially combines Stereo Widening with Left & Right Channel Compression and Left & Right 3-Band EQ - with some really clever onboard smarts which allow you to control those parameters with the minimum of fuss - and through the least amount of controls. With further smart touches - including 3 ...
Next time you navigate to the Boss.info website you will find an entirely new Category for Boss - consisting of these 2 brand new Gigcaster Audio Streaming Mixers. And while parent company Roland has a few products in a similar category - albeit they tend to be combination Audio / Video Mixers and Controllers - Boss has not been active in this segment before.
The reason for why this sits as part of the Boss rather than Roland range - is that all the effects onboard are taken from the same ...
GFI never does anything by half measures - and so we have the most feature-rich and innovative Signal Blender pedal currently on the market - they’ve definitely thrown the kitchen sink at this project.
Up until this time TheGigRig Wetter Box was my favourite parallel blender - certainly more pedalboard-friendly in its compact dimension - but it doesn’t quite come close enough to the expansive feature set of the Duophony - even though the Wetter Box is very compelling in its own right.

My good friend Jim Button of Boost Guitar Pedals is impressively adept at unearthing cool and unique mostly undiscovered pedal brands. Brands such as Drunk Beaver, Kink Guitar Pedals, Red Noise, and StompNorth - while I would like to lay some claim on helping to bring Drunk Beaver to prominence!
Signal Cheyne is actually American abroad - Brian Cheyne, who has been based in France for quite some years now, and is resident of Yerres - actually a south-east suburb of Paris. Brian met his ...
