So we had the usual cryptic clues that something was about to happen - with various glimpses of the Dirt Bird pedal, as well as an older version of the Ayahuasca Trem-Fuzz. So even more cryptic than usual - while it increasingly looked like we would be getting a new variant of the Condor pedal.

When the reveal happened it all got a bit more complicated as this smart Mystery Box festive promotion was world-wide - where everyone pays the same $299 and equivalent for their mystery box (free shipping and no customs charges etc!) - while the big challenge is that a lot of those Chase Bliss pedals are no longer compatible with European safety laws (RoHS) - so about half of those are ineligible to European participants - including the new Dirt Bird - which feels a little bizarre.

Actually in Europe you pay €299 - which for me amounted to £260.70 in pounds sterling. And considering the standard price for a Chase Bliss Pedal in Europe is now €469 including shipping and taxes - then €299 is surely something of a bargain - as long as you get something you don’t already have. I guess if you get a duplicate which is likely in my case, then you can sell or trade that one for something else - so it’s still good value whichever way you look at it!

And where actually the gods of chance and probability should most likely be somewhat more in your favour as a European - as none of those cheaper pedals are available to us - and the utility pedals are not included - so that for your €299 outlay - you are most likely getting at least €469 worth of value in Europe - the typical standard Chase Bliss pedal price.

All manner of pedals are included in this mechanic - both past and present, limited and hand painted editions - right up the range to the around $1000 / €1069 CXM 1978 Vintage Studioverb. At the same time there is a 15% discount across the whole range - so you can decide if you want to gamble or just get a specific target pedal at 15% off!

It’s bigger than that even as there will be several custom editions in the mix, as well as pedals from Chase Bliss’s collaborators and partners - so you really don’t know what you’re going to be getting! While the chances are that we Europeans are probably pulling from a smaller pool of pedals overall!

The big prize here is 5 x Gold Pin Badges - which will each give you a lifetime supply of Chase Bliss Pedals (Bliss for Life!) - or automatically entitle you to each of the mainline and standard releases, but not the limited editions (limited follow-up colourways one would assume). That is definitely a prize worth competing for, while knowing my luck I will probably end up with one of the 18 Chase Bliss pedals I already own.

Next on my Chase Bliss target list was going to be the new CLEAN Compressor - so apart from winning one of the golden pins - that would surely be a top prize for me. While my luck isn’t really in these days - so I’m weirdly expecting a disappointment - but we all live in hope of better times ahead!

I’m not sure I’m allowed to share the Mystery Box link yet as Mailing List Members get priority access for an extended window. I was actually very quick to hit the trigger on this one - before I had read all the smallprint and watched the specific International Customers Announcement (as below). The Chase Bliss fan boy legions are vast - so the competition for prizes will be intense - while for those who already own most of that collection - that’s going to remain a massive gamble. While the chance of just maybe winning a golden pin - kind of seems to make it all worthwhile. Best of luck to everyone!

The promotions is open until the 2nd of December, and Mystery Boxes will start shipping on the 3rd. At the very least this gives Chase Bliss the opportunity to shift some of its non-moving stock items. And there will hopefully be lots of happy winners!

In any case - I’m hoping most of us will have a fun Chase Bliss Unboxing day in the week following the 2nd of December. I’m all in on this one in any case!
