In the wake of the 40th Anniversary SD-1 Super OverDrive and 30th Anniversary MT-2 Metal Zone Distortion Boss has taken the opportunity to significantly enhance its web-presences by refining and adding deeper content and resources - further bolstered by a brand new Blog Platform - Articles.Boss.Info.
The typical Boss page is now deeper and more flowing and we will use the updated SD-1 Super OverDrive Page as our main reference here. Note that the MT-2 Metal Zone Page is similarly excellent and rich in details.
The structure of this overview largely follows the structure of the SD-1 pages as follows :
As one of the if not most significant pedal brands of all time - Boss has always had a great legacy in pedal development history and a wealth of material about the context of how each of those effects evolved, and how they are best deployed,
The new Articles.Boss.Info Blogging Platform for the first time provides that wealth of information - with detailed Guides. Histories and effectively Serving Suggestions. And those articles are then used tot enrich the main Product features on Boss's core Boss.Info site.
The Blog can be navigated also via separate content streams :
Top of the SD-1 Page you will find summary description and link to Image Gallery.
And while there are no official new Boss Product Videos for those new Anniversary Pedals, Boss has nevertheless enhanced the video display row by pulling in more of the relevant videos into a single access point.
Next come the Key Standard Features listing, followed by a highly innovative TonePedia Player - fully embedded into the Product Page.
I took the occasion to references the Boss Catalogue / Library directly on the TonePedia Page - if you wish to delve deeper into that virtual tone sampling resource.
Currently 50 of Boss's pedals are featured on TonePedia.
As Standard, the Boss Product Pages now feature Alternative Editions by default - as with the 2 new Anniversary Editions. And the 40th Anniversary Inverted SD-1 for this example.
The penultimate product row now features a list of those relevant Articles.Boss.Info Blog Features. Of course bringing us full-circle to the top referenced visual on this particular article - 40 Years of the Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive.
Finally, we have the 'You May Also Like' row / panel - which lists out other Relevant Boss Pedals of Interest within that same genre.
In introducing the Articles.Boss,Info Blog Platform Resource - Boss is further underlining its Pedal Leadership Credentials.
None of the other leading brands provide quite the same level of detail (although I really like what Strymon does too) - and I'm rather a detail-oriented person. The wealth of knowledge, experience and history that Boss presides over is now being fully shared with the consumer like never before.
I have all manner of historic Boss references - charts, digital catalogues and of course the essential 'The Boss Book' - I look forward to seeing further references and excerpts from all those amazing legacy Boss resources appearing on the Articles.Boss.Info platform some day soon!
