One of the most striking pedals made to date is also Sarah Lipstate’s (Noveller) signature Drive, Loop, Reverb, and Delay Pedal.
I’ve long considered getting in one of these essentially collector’s pieces. But I’ve reasoned that it would most likely end up as shelf-ware - as I would be unlikely to call upon that specific set of effects. I have far more expansive Delays and Reverbs in my chain, I don’t much use the FX / Insert Loop - and have several preferred drive types to the one included here - however good that is.
It’s a singular set of effects devised for Sarah Lipstate - and even she doesn’t particularly regularly gig with this pedal - possibly it’s more of a home studio thing. There are actually 2 versions of the Moon Canyon still available as of my writing this - where the other one is a Limited Edition Blood Moon Edition - with darker coloured moon.
Controls - TRANSPARENT DRIVE } Drive, Volume, Tone knob, Tone switch (bass boost), Drive Footswitch; LOOP } Loop Footswitch; REVERB } Level, Reverb Footswitch; DELAY } Mix, Repeats, Delay Time, Delay Footswitch.
So very straight forward controls - 4 for the Drive, 1 for the Reverb, and 3 for the Delay. You also have an Out II - second Mono Output - so you can connect the pedal to 2 amps - like Sarah does.
These emerged in 2018 initially - and were released in a number of sequential batches - with the end goal of a total of 350 units - which we’re now finally at all these years later!
This is such an attractive pedal - that I’m sorely tempted. It really is a work of art, and carries a suitably luxurious price tag, while these last few have been discounted from €753 down to €552 on the Dr. No Webstore. It’s at a price where for me I would need to get some serious use out of it to justify that outlay. And as mentioned I can’t substantiate it sufficiently to justify acquiring it - while I’ve come very close on a few occasions - mostly on account of how cool it looks.
Dr. No - one Roel Aben of Eindhoven, makes some really striking pedals. This is high pedal art really - where there are some superb pedals on the roster - while a few aren’t particularly practical necessarily. These are the perfect combination of Hi-Fidelity and Art - the circuit engineering is fantastic too.
But for this Moon Canyon you need to rationalise if you’re going to make use of this particular set and sequence of effects. I would imagine lots would love to own this, while I’m not convinced all would use it particularly extensively! If money is no object - then this is a wonderful and very unique pedal which would take pride of place in the collections of any who would posses it.
I’m still tempted!
