Cosmodio Instruments’ principal is one Barton, who’s made a really cool highly texture Fuzz / Distortion at his first official attempt. I really rather like the look of this pedal, which was originally in 3 colourways - Purple Dark Doomy Deathscape (as pictured) / Neon Nuclear Wasteland (Sold Out!) / Limited Purple Neon Wasteland. I really like the first 2 editions best - while one of those is already sold out - so it would have to be the Dark Doomy one for me!

I last did a roundup selection for Harmonic Percolators back in May 2019 (around 5 years ago!), where this time around I near enough double down on the possible options. Of course the late 70’s Ed Giese designed pedal was absolutely ginormous, and famously with just 2 slider controls - one for ’Harmonics’ or input gain, where the second ’Balance’ one represented Volume / Output. Interestingly this was a hybrid Fuzz circuit - which originally featured 2N404 Germanium, and 2N3565 Silicon ...
The meaning of ’Halves’ here is dual - as it concerns the 2 Modes - Subharmonic and Overtone, as well as the two hemispheres of the Tone and Sensitivity controls.
Controls - Level, Tone, Sensitivity, Mode : SB (Subharmonic) / OT (Overtone).
As per the full name of this Fuzz - it is incredibly sensitive - and in particular for the Subharmonic Mode - and very much needs to be the first thing your guitar hits in the pedal-chain. The two sides are really quite different. The Subharmonic ...
So of my recent Lichtlaerm Trio / Trifecta - this was the one that I first got properly to grips with. I thought I would tackle them roughly in order of gain and aggressiveness - so the Altar is first, the Gehenna is next and the Medusa comes after that. I may have to switch the order later - pending my final results. While the Altar impresses almost instantly!
I’ve been keeping tabs on the Altar pedal for about 4 years now - watching it evolve and improve - and in its latest incarnation is...
So it’s been quite a while since I last covered this subject - indeed you have to go back to a August 2018 feature, which covered just 6 pedals. And where the then mentioned 770 Circuits seems to have wholly gone to ground in the interim, and there is no sign of its Komparator Trem-Fuzz anywhere anymore!
This time around I cast a slightly wider net - do note that these are a mix of LFO-assisted - therefore more Trem-Fuzz, and more natural feedback fuzz-oscillation. Essentially these are are...
The much celebrated Waitlist Wednesday is back tomorrow - in fact from midnight tonight! Where you can PREORDER each of Reeves Electro’s Point-to-Point Builds. For most pedals it’s a case of unlimited preorders, while for the BlackHatSound-Deluxe - because of parts availability restrictions - those are limited to just 10, and the Plus Distortions are limited to 25.
Here is the full list with the all-important prices!
When I acquired my acrylic-faced edition of Mattoverse Just a Phase Phaser back in October of 2021 - I told Matt at the time that I would love to have a matching acrylic faced AirTrash - as both use the same 3 - Red, Blue and Yellow Metallic primary colours knobs - and they would look amazing together. Matt though being a fiercely independent sort had various plans and projects to get through first, and we finally get the matching pair nearly 3 years later!
Even though both pedals are ...
It’s been quite the epic journey for me to get to Lichtlaerm Audio - which goes all the way back to February of 2020 - where I believe I was the first Pedal Blog to feature Daniel Ringl’s original first incarnation line of pedals - which had white graphics onto black facias , on top of wine-red gloss-finished enclosures (Update! - looked like white print in photos, but Daniel says - "the old line-up was silver prints directly on smooth black enclosures - the photos looked a bit white but it was...
This is such a smart idea - using Bit-Crushing, Sample Rate Reduction, Aliasing and Warble together to generate the most awesome of somewhat jagged and brittle artifacts-loaded digitally mangled fuzz textures. You really get some very interesting timbres here - not all necessarily entirely musical - but each a glorious dissonance in its own way.
I’ve always called myself principally a ’Noise Maker’ and this type of effect is exactly the kind of thing I’m constantly on the look out for. ...
Lastgasp’s Octavella Upper Octave Fuzz is well known for its fantastic and complex full fat searing texture. It has so much sear on tap in fact - that you need to be very careful in particularly how you deploy the Gain and Feedback Knobs - if you ride those too high you get a very obvious feedback ’whistle’ which for me I was able to dial out for my perfect settings.
You’re basically tuning the Gain and Feedback knobs in tandem - making micro-adjustments to ensure that you don’t get any ...
